Village Level Development Programme

The Village Level Development Programme is intended to design and implement a “Participatory Village Development Programme” as a Pilot Project in the State of Mizoram. Through VLDP, customized village-level planning would be made keeping in mind the potential of the area and the existing infrastructure of the region. The focus would be on creating sustainable livelihood through capacity building, infrastructure development, capital grants, etc. The customized village-level plan would be the starting point of all development activities.

Six villages were selected from as many districts for Phase-I of the project based on consideration such as the villagers’ openness to progressive ideas, amenability and work culture etc.

The selected villages are:

  1. Sailam, Aizawl District

  2. Chawngtlai, Champhai District

  3. Lungdai, Kolasib District

  4. Sekhum, Lunglei District

  5. Ailawng, Mamit District

  6. Leng, Serchhip District

The economic development of the villages will be the focal point of VLDP with a priority on the creation of an enabling environment for sustainable livelihood through capacity building, convergence of various government schemes, Community contribution, etc. The actual interventions are to evolve from the diagnostics of the village data. Sustainable Development Goals will be the guiding principles in the implementation of the VLDP.
